Trusting Xero with your business

At Xero we take our commitment to loving and protecting our customers seriously. We recruit people with customer-centric mindsets and believe that all of our Xeros are responsible for delivering a world-class customer experience. We believe this is our competitive advantage.

Our inside-out culture means that everything begins with our Xeros, who can then resonate our trust and values to you folks – our partners, small business customers and ecosystem. Fundamental to our inside-out culture is that all Xeros believe in our purpose which is to ‘have a positive impact on the world by growing small business’. Building and maintaining trust and confidence in our security is imperative if we want to help our community across the globe be more successful. The power of this purpose cannot be overstated. It provides a unifying energy that brings our people, our partners and our customers together to do their best work, and collectively we achieve great things.

Our commitment to your security

At Xero we are committed to protecting your data and information. One of the steps in our data security journey is achieving the formal ISO 27001 certification. This is the international standard that specifies the requirements for implementing, maintaining and continually improving an information security management system. We are taking all reasonable steps to protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of the data and information we hold.

Achieving ISO 27001:

  • Shows Xero takes a ‘best practice’ approach to data security management
  • Indicates Xero can be trusted to manage its risks and security
  • For our customers, stakeholders and employees shows that we take security seriously and make every effort to protect Xero users’ data and information

Security is an ongoing priority

Our ISO certification is not a ‘set and forget’ or a ‘one-time effort’. Your security and security of data is an ongoing priority for us, and formal certification requires regular internal checks as well as formal external audits every year.

We have always made security a priority when it comes to accessing information, and gaining ISO certification adds to the many measures we’ve implemented, which includes two-step authentication, encrypting your data, 24/7 monitoring and surveillance, and regular security audits to identify and manage threats.

For more information about security at Xero, check out Xero’s security page and our Security Noticeboard which keeps you up to date with the latest news about phishing and other scams. We also provide recommendations on how to protect yourself from them.

We want to love and protect our customers because we’re a people business. Having you place your trust in Xero is important to us, and something we won’t take for granted.

This ISO certification applies to the protection of your data, the security of the Xero software, and the physical security of our premises and any data held there including our offices in Australia, New Zealand, the UK, and the US. You can request the certificate or access it when you are logged into Xero Central. See Xero’s security page for details of how we protect your data with multiple layers of security.
