Optional “View Invoice” button on invoice emails

Last month we released a bunch of great enhancements to the emails you send from Xero and we’ve since had loads of requests to make the “view invoice” button on sales invoice emails optional. The View Invoice details will continue to appear by default but now, if you prefer, you can easily remove.

Go to Settings > General Settings > Email Settings. Then select a sales invoice email template and remove the check mark from the option “Include quick link to online invoice and detail summary” and you’re all set.

Improved User Permissions page

We’ve improved the User Permissions page to be more intuitive and beautiful, while also completing some important work in the back-end to ensure that Xero could support more user role options in the future. Learn more on our blog.

Sales account code suggestions on iOS invoices

When adding a new line item to an invoice on iOS, Xero will make an account code suggestion to help you code sales items more easily and accurately. Don’t worry, you’ll still need to select this suggestion for it to apply. Suggestions will only appear when the contact does not have a default sales account, is not an inventory item, or is an inventory item that does not have a default sales account. So it’s super efficient and you’re always in control.

iOS Sales Tab reports ordered consecutively by date

We’ve updated the list order of invoices and quotes under the sales tab reports on iOS to be more useful. Now they’re sorted consecutively by either invoice/quote date or due date/expiry depending on the status of the invoice or quote.

Try Xero Projects in the demo company

Now you can experience how Xero Projects works in the Xero demo company. Add your own projects, work from project to invoice, and have a good play around before adding it to your plan. Note: If you’re adding your own data, this resets every 28 days. Learn how to access the demo company.

Two step authentication for all Australian practice clients

Now partners can give their client’s even more confidence that their data is secure with 2-Step Authentication. This is now mandatory for all staff members on Xero HQ. This requirement applies to any practice user globally with access to an Australian Xero organisation and is requirement mandated by the Australian Tax Office.  Learn more on our blog.

Enhancements to Xero HQ Ask and Clients

We’re making it easier to get the information you need from your clients with some great enhancements to Ask in Xero HQ. Now practice users can create templates from existing or new queries and files can be attached to any query to help your clients locate the right information. The new client contact feature means you can send queries directly to specific person within an organisation. You can also keep their details, such as email and phone number, on file for easy access.  Learn more on our blog.

Coming soon

Xero Expenses full release

Small Businesses and partners will soon be able to manage reimbursable expenses seamlessly from anywhere with the new Xero Expenses on web and mobile.

Manage the level of access your staff have to Xero Projects

Small business owners and managers will be able to set one of three levels of access to the information, and actions their staff can perform within Xero Projects, removing concern about access to sensitive information or completing tasks outside of their job scope.

Stop-start timer on Xero Projects for Android & iOS

Soon you’ll be able to accurately record every minute you spend on chargeable work, from anywhere with the stop-start timer on Xero Projects for iOS and Android.

Invoice reminder email changes

Soon you’ll be able to display either your logo or org name on invoice reminder emails, as well as control the presence of the View Invoice button.

USA customers can try Xero Projects for a limited time

Small businesses in the USA will soon be able to use all the features of Xero Projects at no cost to them before it officially launches in America later this year.

Custom QR codes on Xero invoice templates

You’ll be able to benefit from using a payment gateway even if you prefer to send a printed invoice. So by adding QR codes to invoice templates, your customers will be able to scan the code with their mobile device and pay directly online.

View of payment options attached to invoices

With this upcoming release, you’ll be able to easily view which Payment Services are active on online invoices you send to your customers. You’ll be able to add or change these without leaving the invoice screen. It’s a way for you to easily ensure that credit card, debit card and PayPal payment options are available to your customers. So this way you are offering flexibility and helping you speed up invoice payments.

AU Payroll – Single Touch Payroll update

Single Touch Payroll (STP) is changing the way employers report to the Australian Taxation Office (ATO). STP will be mandatory from 1 July 2018 only for employers with 20 or more employees and optional for all other employers.

We’re working closely with the ATO to roll out STP in Xero Payroll over the coming months. This will make it simple to set up and process pay runs in compliance with the new requirements.

You can find more details and recent updates on Single Touch Payroll on our blog.

Manage the level of access to new Expenses

Small business owners and managers will soon be able to set the level of access to information. They will also be able to add actions their staff can perform with three levels of users permissions in the new Xero Expenses feature (also coming soon).
