Xerocon London 2019: Your guide for activities to take your practice to the next level

Xerocon London will takeover ExCeL London on 13 and 14 November, and we can’t wait to share all the amazing surprises and latest product announcements with you.

In a tumultuous market with constantly evolving customer demands, what can firms do to stay up to date?

Answers to that question will be in abundance at Xerocon, where speakers, breakout sessions and panel discussions will be helping you discover what you can do to advance and grow.

Here are some of the interactive, insightful and thought-provoking activities designed to equip you with the tools and knowledge you need to take your practice to the next level.

Day one (13 November)

Those of you looking to grow a modern firm should seek out Kat Bond and Ian Phillips, both Heads of Field Sales here at Xero, and their talk Practice strategy: Tactics for growing a modern firm. This duo will discuss the significant growth opportunities available for companies which can properly leverage technology, legislation and client demographics. Kat and Ian will also be joined by some of Xero’s Pacesetter accountants to talk about tactics that work and avoiding potential pitfalls.

Time: 2:30-3pm

Another superb session is becoming a trusted advisor starts with daily bookkeeping. Hosted by Oliver Smith, Director of Strategic Partnerships and Networks at Receipt Bank, Emma Fox, Managing Director at Fresh Financials and Will Farnell, Founder and Director of Farnell Clarke, it promises to show businesses the importance of tracking and organising data, from cash flow planning to budgeting and KPI analysis. Successful firms are continually refreshing their processes to deliver daily and weekly bookkeeping to their clients. This talk will show you the best ways to do this and spot value-add opportunities that others might miss.

Time: 2:30-3pm

There’s no doubt that technology is key in helping you upgrade your firm, but remember your people matter too. Build your community to build your brand will demonstrate how getting customers to advocate for you is one of the most effective ways of selling both yourself and your business. Gayle Fisher, Partner Campaign Manager at Xero will teach you how to identify advocates and encourage them to champion you.

Time: 3:15-3:45pm

Matt Lucas and Shaheen Budhrani (of the Matt and Shaheen Podcast) and Xero account managers are hosting the panel how sole practitioners can beat the big guys. Along with their panel guests, they’ll offer advice on how sole practitioners can become game changers, compete selectively, and use Xero to its full potential.

Time: 4-4:20pm

One great way to supercharge your firm is through greater focus, and that’s the subject of specialising to succeed in vertical markets. Andrew Collings, Partner Team Manager of National Accounts at Xero, will show you which vertical markets you can specialise in, and give you examples of firms who do this well. You’ll walk away with the right knowledge to get going immediately.

Time: 4-4:20pm

Day two (14 November)

There are many questions and challenges that arise when moving clients to Xero. In this session, Matt Willis, Partner Consultant at Xero, will reveal his tips and tricks to help ease the process. You’ll also learn about the support and resources at your disposal, so you can move clients to Xero with minimal fuss.

Time: 10:35-11:05am

Contrary to popular opinion, compliance isn’t dead. The shift to advisory is happening for many practices, but compliance is still key to a successful practice. This panel discussion will teach you how to continue delivering the compliance services your clients need, and also extending your services to deliver the advice your clients crave.

Time: 11:40am-12:10pm

With so much to see and learn at Xerocon, Ash Gibson, Partner Marketing Manager at Xero and I will highlight the key takeaways to help you and your team make a plan for what’s next. From product announcements and the latest industry trends to some of the unexpected moments, this lively recap will ensure you walk away with the tips to make the most of your Xerocon attendance.
