Join us to support Breast Cancer Foundation NZ this May
Every year in May, thousands of people across Aotearoa NZ gather to do something simple but powerful: they break bread together to raise funds and awareness for breast cancer.
At Xero, we’re proud to once again support Breast Cancer Foundation NZ’s Pink Ribbon Breakfast campaign to fund life-saving research, education, and support. We know this is a cause that matters deeply to many in our community, our customers, our people, and their whānau.
Why this matters to us
One in nine women in New Zealand will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime.
That’s a statistic that hits close to home for many and is one of the reasons we’re committed to supporting Breast Cancer Foundation’s work to improve outcomes and raise awareness.
We want to encourage our wider Xero community to get involved, whether by hosting your own Pink Ribbon Breakfast or joining us at our breakfast event this Thursday 15 May. Every dollar raised, every effort, and every conversation makes a difference.
A personal journey
For me, this campaign is more than a cause. It’s a reminder of what truly matters in life.
A few years ago, I found myself face-to-face with a cancer diagnosis. I was young, healthy, with no family history, and had received the all clear from a mammogram just a few months prior. But one ordinary day, something didn’t feel right, and following that gut instinct changed everything.
What followed was a crash course in medical terms I’d never heard, an emotional rollercoaster I couldn’t prepare for, and a chapter of my life that forced me to dig deeper than I thought possible. I learned how quickly life can shift and how important it is to listen to your body and advocate for your health.
I also learned that support can take many forms. A conversation, a message, a meal left on the doorstep, a hug, could change my day. I’m lucky enough to be a part of a company that doesn’t just talk about wellbeing, but actively shows up for it.
How you can help
Supporting Pink Ribbon Breakfast is one small way we can all make a big difference. It’s about more than French toast and a perfect flat white. It’s about early detection, better treatment, and helping ensure fewer families face the unimaginable pain of losing a mother, an aunt, a daughter, or a friend to breast cancer. Join us to support Breast Cancer Foundation’s goal of zero deaths from breast cancer.
