NAB unveiled as platinum sponsor of Xerocon Brisbane 2018

As anyone who interacts with small businesses will know, sustained success is never about one thing happening in isolation. It’s about the interplay of hundreds of different decisions, services, payments, purchases and data points working together, every day.

It’s crucial we help owners and their advisors interact seamlessly with the wider business community – and work with other innovative institutions to make this a possibility.

That’s why I’m so pleased to announce that NAB, Australia’s largest business bank, is supporting Xerocon Brisbane 2018, the largest vendor-run tech event for accountants and bookkeepers in Asia Pacific, as our platinum sponsor.

NAB and Xero deepen their innovation drive

The relationship between NAB and Xero is not a new one. We first came together in 2015 to ensure Xero partners and their customers who bank with NAB would enjoy full coverage of transaction information from NAB accounts through Xero. Bank feeds enabled data to flow overnight into Xero and be available the next day, making it easier for customers to track their finances on the go.

We also looked at ways to reduce barriers between small business and access to capital. When NAB integrated its QuickBiz Loans with Xero, it meant business owners no longer had to deal with lengthy manual processes simply to apply for a loan. Instead, they could sync real-time information from their accounting platform straight through to NAB, and obtain a decision far more quickly.

Fast forward to earlier this year, and NAB customers were invited to join a beta program for an easier and more secure way to pay bills from Xero, streamlining their payment processes even further. This feature is expected to be available for wider NAB and Xero customers later this year.

Removing friction; creating calm

Continuing these conversations is increasingly important as we work to remove friction from the day-to-day processes of accountants, bookkeepers, small businesses and, ultimately, the economy at large.

Simply by streamlining the payments process, for example, we can give customers better insight into cash flow and facilitate better cash flow management. It’s an area we know needs our support. In May 2018, Xero Small Business Insights showed that 52 percent of Australian small businesses were cash flow positive, which means 48 percent were striving to get out of the red.

The more we can work with others to create friction-free processes between small businesses and their service providers, the more ripple effects we create. Those ripples help business owners spend less time on admin and more time on business. They help every advisor to continually add increasing value. And they help eliminate unnecessary pain points so that together, we can make business more beautiful across Australia.
