Robyn Benincasa at Xerocon Austin: Inspiring others against all odds

If you don’t believe that you can achieve the impossible, then wait until you meet Robyn Benincasa. Robyn has spent the last 20 years studying the good, the bad, and the not-so-pretty of extreme teamwork. She has mastered the skills required to inspire exhausted people through endless obstacles, while working against crazy deadlines and changing conditions — all in pursuit of an audacious goal. For any business owner, this probably sounds all-too-familiar.

In her New York Times bestselling book, How Winning Works, Robyn shares the essential teambuilding and leadership skills that she and her teammates discovered on their quest to win “the toughest races on Earth”. We’re excited to announce that Robyn will be taking the keynote stage at Xerocon Austin to share the powerful effect of ultra adventurism on team performance.

Anything is possible

Robyn started her career as a saleswoman, and although she was successful at exceeding her goals – she still didn’t feel fulfilled. She decided she needed to challenge herself not only mentally, but physically. So she hung up her heels and panty hose for a life in boots and grime.

She has since braved the jungles of Borneo, the Himalayas of Tibet, the rivers of Fiji, the rainforests of Ecuador, and the brush fires of southern California (to name a few). And she did it all with two metal bionic hips!

Robyn has made an art form of extreme performance by competing and winning at the highest levels of sports and business. She is a World Champion Eco-Challenge Adventure Racer, a three-time Guinness World Record holder and is inarguably “California’s Fittest Woman”. She now works full-time on the nation’s first all-female firefighting squad.

Through these harrowing and often hilarious experiences, Robyn has emerged with her unique perspective. She knows first-hand what it takes to succeed against all odds and to go the distance. She calls it Human Synergy, or, “that magic that allows groups of ordinary people to do extraordinary things together.” She spends her spare time empowering people to reach for seemingly impossible goals, like climbing the tallest mountain, completing a triathlon, or starting a business.

“The biggest, strongest, and fastest competitors are not guaranteed a successful finish,” Robyn explains.

“It’s the teams that understand interdependence, have empathy for one another, share common ideals, manage adversity well, and check their egos at the start line that win these races. In my experience, the same is true in the corporate world.”

Xerocon Austin

On Tuesday December 7th, Robyn will take the Xerocon Austin audience on an unforgettable adventure. You’ll leave wanting to grab life in one hand, grab your team in the other, and create that special magic that enables each of us to become better and stronger together.

“We don’t inspire others by showing them how amazing we are; we inspire them by showing them how talented, smart and capable they are,” says Robyn.

Want to join the Xerocon action? We’ve got a full house in Austin, but we’re spreading the Xerocon love across the US to Atlanta in July 2018 – see you there!
