The key takeaways one partner learned at Xero Roadshow US

We recently shared how Cindy Montoya of San Antonio-based KAC Consulting has helped her firm move forward thanks to the Xero community.

The community aspect of Xero Roadshows was on full display at our recent event in San Antonio. I saw many peers meeting and working collaboratively to bring each other up to the next level in their profession and find ways to accelerate their firms.

Cindy recently attended her first Xero Roadshow and walked away with several takeaways she immediately plans to implement at her firm. Here were three ideas that were sparked at Xero Roadshow for Cindy:

1. The importance of branding

Cindy had been thinking for some time about updating her website so she could include more Xero-focused content and provide more value to potential clients. The website redesign sat on the backburner since her team didn’t have enough time to dedicate to this project.

At Xero Roadshow, we spent time talking about the Xero partner program and how partners can tailor benefits to meet their own specific goals. It was at this moment that Cindy said “a lightbulb went off” and she made the connection that she could use Xero’s partner marketing funds to redesign her website.

For growth-minded firms like Cindy, working with Xero to build a strong website ensures the right content is put forward to attract new clients and ultimately, helps their practices grow.

2. Moving clients from QuickBooks to Xero

While Cindy started out as a QuickBooks firm, she recently made the decision to move her clients from QuickBooks to Xero. From a workflow standpoint, she believes supporting one system will be more efficient for her and her staff and it will allow her firm to support more clients in less time.

Cindy said the key factor in making this decision was her involvement in Xero events like roadshow and being engaged with the Xero community. At these events, she was able to connect with Xero Gold Partners and local ambassadors to learn their insights that helped factor into her decision. In particular, her conversation with Xero Gold Partner Justin Sisley, owner of Digidern, a practice that focuses on the craft brewing vertical, “made so much sense” that she made the decision to start focusing in on Xero.

There’s no telling what your next conversation at a Xero event or roadshow could lead to — whether it’s a business decision like the one Cindy made, discussing tools to add to your tech stack, or finding other firms that you can refer work back and forth with. The Xero community shares a common goal of seeing firms thrive, so there’s no better place to go for inspiration.

3. Embracing your Xero team as a true extension of your firm

The Xero Roadshows are formed around a supportive community who are there to help you out if you’re just starting your Xero journey or are a long-time user.

Xero communities are spread throughout the country and your local team is well-versed in the ingredients for running a successful practice. They truly become an extension of your firm and can guide you through any transitions you’re going through or make sure you’re connected to others in the Xero community who have experienced similar challenges and know ways to come out ahead.

Since our local team began working with Cindy last year, we’ve been able to serve as true consultants by collaborating on business plans that outline next steps and milestones we want to achieve together. We know success is hard to achieve going at it alone, but with the full support of the Xero community behind you, anything becomes possible.

There’s still time to join us at Xero Roadshow US to see for yourself first-hand the power of the Xero community. We hope to see you there!
